Growing up in a wealthy family, Argyle developed a distaste for anybody of wealth and prestige beneath his own. Anybody lacking noble blood or status would automatically be deemed unworthy.
His mother was very nurturing and spoiled Argyle when he was very young. Unfortunately, she only lived long enough to see him to the age of eight. After his mother passed away his father took to raising him alone. His father being more stern and certainly twice the snob Argyle could ever be, he influenced many of Argyle's notions regarding people and society as a whole. At the same time however, his father was not so doting as his mother, and opted to "toughen" up his son by instilling a sense of pride and 'modesty,' telling his son this: "You don't flaunt your wealth or your position. You insist upon it without superficial gloating and extravagance. You simply are your position." Thanks to daddy dearest, Argyle became both proud and arrogant.
Story:
Argyle becomes a prominent military leader for the king, due mostly to his ability to make prompt and intelligent decisions and his skills in combat. While visiting the king for the celebration of prince Dmitri's wedding, Argyle meets a woman during one of the feasts. Both he and the woman become quite infatuated with one another, but as irony would have it, she turns out to be a peasant.
